     Heavy or Irregular Bleeding

Heavy or irregular menstrual bleeding can have a variety of underlying causes, including hormonal imbalances, uterine fibroids, polyps, endometriosis, bleeding disorders, and even gynecologic cancers. At Cartersville OB/GYN, we are equipped to provide a comprehensive in-office evaluation, often during your very first visit. This allows us to quickly identify the cause and create a personalized treatment plan. Depending on your diagnosis and preferences, we offer a full range of both non-surgical and surgical treatment options. These may include: Medication therapy Endometrial ablation, including the NovaSure® procedure, which is safely performed in-office and takes just 90 seconds Minimally invasive outpatient hysterectomy, with most patients returning home comfortably the same day Our goal is to help you find lasting relief with the least invasive treatment necessary, while prioritizing your comfort, safety, and quality of life.

Chronic Pelvic Pain and Pain During Intercourse

Chronic pelvic pain and pain during intercourse are often misunderstood. Many people assume these symptoms are solely related to gynecologic conditions and require surgery. In reality, pelvic pain can have multiple underlying causes. These may include painful bladder syndromes, gastrointestinal issues such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), pelvic organ prolapse, or dysfunction of the pelvic and vaginal muscles. Our comprehensive approach involves evaluating all potential sources of pain to provide an accurate diagnosis. We aim to treat the root causes rather than relying on long-term pain medications. Treatment options may include medication, pelvic floor physical therapy, dietary changes, and, when necessary, surgical intervention. Our goal is to provide effective, lasting relief tailored to each individual’s needs.

Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP)

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a common condition that can lead to pelvic pressure, discomfort, and decreased sexual function. It typically affects women in their 40s and 50s, though it can occur at any age. POP happens when the pelvic organs—such as the bladder, rectum, or uterus—descend and create a noticeable bulge in the vaginal area. Many women first notice this bulging sensation or visible protrusion, which may be accompanied by urinary symptoms, including involuntary leakage. POP can significantly impact quality of life, but effective treatment options are available to relieve symptoms and restore pelvic support.
